If you are considering a gift to the Stephen Perse Foundation, the first thing we want to say is thank you. We hope that the information we provide here is adequate but if you have any further questions, do please contact us.

One-off and regular gifts

To make a donation, no matter how large or small, or to ask any questions please contact the development office. Alternatively you can use the donation form to make a one off gift or set up a monthly gift. If you are a UK taxpayer, you can increase the value of your gift by 25 per cent – at no cost to you – if you complete the Gift Aid Declaration on the above donation form.

The Stephen Perse Foundation is a registered charity, number 1120608

Gift Aid

Charitable gifts of all sizes from UK taxpayers, whether one-off or regular, are  eligible for Gift Aid if you complete a Gift Aid Declaration. Donors should sign the declaration printed on the form.

This enables the school to reclaim tax at the basic rate from the Inland Revenue and enables higher and top rate taxpayers to claim tax relief on donations. It means that the Stephen Perse Foundation receives £12.50 for every £10 donated by a taxpayer. A gift of £10 per month for three years rises from £360 to £450.80 once tax has been reclaimed, while a one-off gift of £800 increases to £1,000. If you need any more information, do contact the Development Office.

Higher rate taxpayers can reclaim the difference between the basic and the higher rates of tax (ie 40%-20%=20%) on the gross value of the donation when they complete their self-assessment tax return. For example, if you give £100, we can claim £25 in Gift Aid and you can also reclaim £25. Top rate taxpayers can reclaim the difference between the basic and the top rates of tax (ie 50%-20%=30%) on the gross value of the donation when they complete their self-assessment tax return. This means that, if you give £100, you can reclaim £37.50.

Legacies - see our legacy page

As well as life-time gifts, many alumni have made a significant donation through a legacy to the Stephen Perse Foundation. As the Foundation is a registered charity, funds bequeathed to it in your will are free of inheritance tax in the UK, which is currently levied at 40 per cent on the portion of your estate over the value of £325,000 (January 2012). However, all outright gifts and bequests to UK charities are completely free of inheritance tax. Full information on inheritance tax in the UK is available on the HM Revenue & Customs website. There are tax benefits in other countries, though we advise alumni to consult a solicitor if considering making a bequest to the Foundation from outside the UK.

Please see our Leaving a legacy page for more information. Alternatively, download our Legacy brochure. If you would like to discuss making a bequest, please contact Melissa Santiago-Val , phone +44(0) 1223 454738,  or fill in an Intentions form.
