The Stephen Perse Vision and learning toolkit are firmly focused on the future, as we prepare our young people for life in an ever-changing, global and digital world.  SPF’s programme of inspiration and guidance is extensive, building from the early years and evolving to meet student’s changing needs.  Our unique approach is encapsulated in the SPF bike, with the front wheel detailing elements of our ‘Inspire Me’ programme, some aspects of which are careers related.

The careers programme is explained in detail in the SPF Inspire Me Careers Guidance Policy. Importantly the Foundation’s vision and the principles underlying our approach to teaching and learning support guidance benchmarks.  For instance, one of the core Gatsby Charitable Foundation’s benchmarks requires that curriculum learning is linked to the real world and careers - The SPF teaching and learning policy provides for contextualised learning. Experiential education and learning projects linked to the local community and with a global context ensure that students understand the relevance of subjects and are involved in projects to solve real-life issues relating to a range of disciplines, including STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

The aims of the Inspire Me careers programme are to deliver:

  • Inspiration for students of all ages;

  • An understanding of their individual potential and preferences, empowering students to set targets and to plan and manage their futures;

  • Detailed guidance on next steps and choices;

  • Skills learners will need for life;

  • Practical experience for their portfolio.
