History in the Making: Year 7 Students Build Epic Castles

Published on 01/03/24

The History department was besieged by brilliance last term as Year 7 students battled it out in our epic House Model Castle Building Competition.

We were so overwhelmed by the creative entries (including one constructed entirely of cake!) that we had to expand our plans to showcase every single castle in a year-group display, culminating in a prize-giving ceremony.

Our Year 7 students put their historical knowledge and construction skills to the test, crafting fortresses from a variety of materials with 10 runners up announced. However, one castle truly stood out, claiming the coveted title of ‘Overall Winner’: the gargantuan masterpiece built by Rufus W. Rufus's castle wasn't just impressive in size, it was meticulously constructed, historically faithful, and brimming with thoughtful details.

A huge thank you to all the Year 7 students who participated! Your enthusiasm, creativity, and dedication made this our most successful Model Castle Building Competition yet. We were truly amazed by the level of talent and historical understanding on display. Keep up the excellent work, young historians!
