Bringing Foreign Languages alive for Juniors

Published on 04/06/14

Juniors have been learning about means of transports, countries and cities in French. With the help of the iPad you will be able to hear their progress!
Year 6 (5th grade) have been learning about means of transports, countries and cities in French. They learnt different grammatical points in order to build 3 parts sentences in the model of I go to + city/country by + means of transport.

In French, there are 4 translations of "to"= au, en, aux, à (depending on country gender or if it's a city)

There are 3 translations of "by"= en/par/à ( way of speech)

Year 6 have used dictionaries a lot to find words genders and through their presentation on the iPads were asked to use new countries and cities of their choice and work out the sentences in French. They were working in pairs.

This project required creativity, an open-mind, humour and resilience! I gave them free choice over the way they would create their presentations ( i-e: Puppet Pals, iMovie etc) and I am very proud of the result! They all look so different and original!

Some are written and some spoken, Grace and Matilda have even stretched themselves further by adding opinions and reasons why they liked/ disliked the city/ies they were visiting!
