Stephen Perse athletes power through miserable conditions at ESAA Cross Country National Championships

Stephen Perse Foundation students Isaac and Francesca demonstrated their cross country ability at the ESAA Cross Country National Championships

Two students from the Stephen Perse Foundation were selected to compete for the Cambridgeshire County at the ESAA Cross Country National Championships being held in Leeds on a rather wet and windy weekend. The course was like a swamp presenting challenging running conditions but it was also enjoyable too. The best school athletes in the country were present, this being the pinnacle of the school’s cross country season and our athletes did the school and the County proud.

Isaac M (Y8) was competing in his first Championships and despite still recovering from an illness he finished in 70th position and was the 2nd Cambridgeshire athlete home. An incredible result as his first Championships and a great learning experience.

Francesca T (Y12) was competing the Senior girls race, she has been at the Championships several times before but this race proved to be her best cross country national race so far. She finished in 133 place and she also was also the 2nd Cambridgeshire athlete home in her age group.

A tremendous achievement by both students and our many congratulations to them both.
