Fantastic day at the National Young Mathematicians Competition

Published on 07/11/18

Dame B's entered the National Young Mathematics Competition for the first time. Read Head of Mathematics Mrs Digby's report of the day below.

We had been practising hard at our Year 5 & 6 maths challenge club for the last six weeks and the day finally arrived to take a team of four enthusiastic mathematicians to the National competition in Chelmsford.

The competition consisted of four challenges involving patterns with dice - it sounds easier than it was! There were six schools at the competition today and there will be six more on Friday, so we won't find out until next week if we have passed round one.

The children were very excited and felt they had done well. They were marked for mathematical knowledge and application thereof, working as a team and explaining their findings to the judges.

This is the first time Dame Bradbury's has entered the competition. We are very proud of our budding mathematicians!
