Regional success in the Senior Team Maths Challenge

Published on 11/12/18

Success for Stephen Perse 6th Form students in the regional round of the Senior Team Maths Challenge.

Tuesday 4 December saw four students from Years 12 and 13 take part in the Regional Final of the Senior Team Maths Challenge. Our team made up of Steve, Ella, Catherine and Sharon were tested on mathematical, communication and teamwork skills,  and competed against teams from other schools and colleges from the region.

The students worked together as a team of four through three different rounds:

  • a group round where they all work on the same 10 questions
  • a crossword round where they had to work on different parts as pairs
  • a relay where they worked as pairs and passed their answers between them.

After a hard fought contest between 30 schools, our students finished in an impressive second place which will hopefully qualify them for the national final in London for the second year running!
