Year 10 student Zara takes on the best of Britain's swimmers this July

Zara has been a shining star in the pool for the last couple of swimming seasons. Last year,  Zara represented Scotland during the Home Nation Summer Championships and won a silver medal in 200m butterfly event and bronze medal in the 400m individual medley.

This year she has qualified for the Scottish National Summer Championships again in not 1, not 2, but 8 events! Zara is ranked in the top 10 swimmers of each event she has qualified for. These events include 800m free, 50m, 100m and 200m breaststroke, 50m and 100m butterfly, 200m and 400m individual medley.

Not only has Zara qualified for the Scottish Championships but she has qualified for the British National Summer Championships which also takes place at the end of July. In order to qualify for the British National Championships,  one has to be ranked within the top 24 for each event within the whole of Britain. Zara qualified to swim 200m butterfly event and is ranked 20th in the 16 year old age group. We look forward to hearing about Zara further successes in the pool and wish her all the best for the Scottish and British National Championships!
