2022 marks the 500 year anniversary of Dame Bradbury’s School in Saffron Walden, which is part of the Stephen Perse Foundation award-winning family of schools across Cambridge and Saffron Walden.

On Friday 11 March Dame Bradbury’s U11 Girls Football Team travelled to Thamesmead in Kent to take part in the English Schools Football Association (ESFA) South East Region Tournament.
History Week was launched with an assembly led by former Head Mistress Katie Milne- she presented an enlightening history of our school and gave special house gifts to every pupil. Each year group had museum visits, speakers, competitions and quizzes to fill their week.
Last week the Stephen Perse Foundation Development Department launched a Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal in conjunction with the British Red Cross.
Parents, friends and family were treated to a wonderful performance based on Robin Hood by Year 5 on Friday 11 March.

Years 1-6 pupils at Junior School Fitzwilliam Building set up and ran a playground sale on Friday 4 March as a celebration of their integrated learning week all about History.
Year 5 & 6 pupils at both Dame Bradbury’s and the Fitzwilliam Building were treated to fascinating talks about Medieval Science from a leading expert, Dr Seb Falk, a historian of science at the University of Cambridge. The pupils were provided with a unique insight into the little-known scientific and educational world of the middle ages, a period whose intellectual achievements are often unfairly overlooked.
The Stephen Perse Foundation, a family of leading independent schools in Cambridge and Saffron Walden, announces today the appointment of James McCaughran as the next Head of Dame Bradbury’s in Saffron Walden.
On Friday 28 February, we had the privilege of welcoming Professor Rebecca Kilner to the Fitzwilliam Building to deliver a talk to our Year 6 pupils on her research into the evolution of burying beetles. Rebecca is Professor of Evolutionary Biology at the University of Cambridge and Director of the Zoology Museum, as well as one of our Junior School parents.
The Stephen Perse Student Sustainability Committee are investigating the issue of food waste at the secondary school, having recorded a short clip to be shared with all students indicating the ‘new’ process of scraping plates, and how this will enable the sustainability committee to begin measuring the amount of food waste, feeding this information back to all students.
The Year 11 Eco-committee have been forging ahead with creating a ‘Biodiversity’ action plan for the secondary school, which forms one of the three themes required for the eco-schools award.
